Fortis ABN AMRO

Change Management, an organization unit of this major bank, wanted to increase the quality level of their projects. Concilio has contributed to this goal with solid improvement proposals and the execution of a number of pilot projects to implement the new working procedures. The current quality of risk management in the organizational unit was measured with PRISMM, the Project RISk Maturity Model developed by Concilio.

The improvements resulted in a better intake process of new projects, and special project consultation sessions for project managers. Also a number of team risk sessions were held.

Philips

This multinational active in healthcare, lifestyle and technology wanted to improve product development in one of its business units. Risk management was used in a pilot project that was carried out in a partnership with a supplier in Taiwan.

De first application of project risk management was very succesful and was used as a stepping stone to implement this method on a broader scale within the business unit. Risk management became part of the global quality system. A Phd study was used to evaluate the implementation after one year. It showed the method was still in use and employees remained positive about the added value.

Fistuca

This high-tech startup from Eindhoven Eindhoven University is developing a new type of pile driver. Concilio facilitated a risk session with venture capitalists and innovative entrepreneurs to identify the main risks in the business plan and company. Jasper Winkes, CEO of Fistuca, gained a number of key insights due to the discussions that took place.

Fistuca won an award of NewVenture, a national business competition, originally initiated by McKinsey

Syntens

Syntens is a national consultancy for innovative companies in the SME-segment. The organization has 15 offices throughout the Netherlands with over 250 consultants. A group of 15 consultants wanted to start an internal network to bundle and share knowledge on succesful partnering between companies. Concilio facilitated a session to identify the keys success factors for this project. They were written down using neutral statements that were judged by the individual participants, using the following criteria:

  • relative importance of a risk for project success
  • likelihood of occurence
  • extent to which the project team can influence the risk

The risk identification and asessement showed clearly that project goals were not clear. This issue was solved on the spot, others were taken care of later on.
