Generating responses
Insight into a risk provides the basis of a brainstorming session that aims to find responses. Starting points for brainstorming are (besides the risk itself) the causes or effects of a risk. The basic risk responses are also a good starting point.
There are a number of different brainstorming techniques. If you are not acquainted with them it would be useful to read one of the many books available, or attend a workshop on brainstorming.
Classic brainstorming
The concept is simple. A small group of 4 to 6 people tries to generate as many ideas as possible. First the subject of the brainstorming session and the rules are explained. Then the people contribute the ideas they have. It is important to extend or twist the ideas that other participants come up with. Criticizing others or their ideas is not allowed. A facilitator writes down all ideas and stimulates group members to generate (more) ideas.
